Lightning Tournament is here!!!

Wow... How amazing today was!

For those who do not know, the Lightning Tournament is a round robin where each team plays 5 other teams, with each game being 17 minutes each. Clock does not stop, so teams must play quickly in order to score any points.

Rebels came out today playing hot. We had been practicing for months now, ready to squash the competition. Let's see how they did.

Judean Rebels vs Ramat Hasharon Hammers

Hammers are back in the league after a one year hiatus. However, that one year hiatus did not stop them from playing really hard into the ground. However, the Rebels defense was extremely strong, and did not let the Hammers score at all.

Rebels offense started out quite slow. However, Joey Benamou showed his RB skills, dodging defenders to several touchdowns (though all but one were called back due to holding penalties).

Rebels ended the game with a WIN thanks to Baruch Landa intercepting the ball with seconds left in the game.

Judean Rebels vs Mazkeret Batya Silverbacks

Silverbacks came out defensively sound, but could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. Baruch Landa once again caught an interception for the defense, and Joey Benamou led the offense with his legs. Rebels came out victorious.

Judean Rebels vs Haifa Underdogs

The Underdogs are one of the most disciplined teams in the IFL. They do a great job of not committing penalties on their offensive and defensive lines. Rebels had their lines watch the Underdogs lines in order to commit to memory the importance of discipline. The Rebels had already committed several penalties in the other two games, thereby losing valuable yards. Lessons learned.

Rebels offense and defense worked very hard in this game, but ultimately came out victorious due to everyone's efforts. It was a team win, the best kind there is.

Judean Rebels vs Tel Aviv Pioneers

The Pioneers are a run-first type of team. They love to pound the opposing defenses with the run in order to open up the passing lanes. However, the Pioneers came out throwing the ball more than running. The Pioneers got the first score on a deep pass. Rebels kept fighting off the Pioneers, and managed to eek out a tie with a running touchdown by one of the Weed brothers.

Judean Rebels vs Beer Sheva Black Swarm

At this point, the Rebels were quite tired. They had finished their fourth game, waiting for the last game to finish. The Black Swarm came out hard, scoring on a deep pass, and not letting anything past their defense. Rebels were close to tying, and potentially winning the game. However, penalties and fumbles abounded, causing the Rebels to lose their final game of the day.

Overall, the Rebels played really hard, and only surrendered two touchdowns in 5 games, while scoring in all but one game. Rebels have learned from their successes and mistakes, and will now go into their next practice confident in this year's season.

Rebels stats: 3-1-1
