Judean Combine Was a Smash!
What a day!
Judean Rebels and Warriors kicked off their 2018-19 season with their first ever Judean Combine today. Over 40 people showed up to test their skills on the field. With so many people arriving, different stations were created in order to make sure everyone was doing something and not remaining idle.
After warm-ups, the players split up into two groups to test strength and speed. Jason Hess ran the 40-yard-dash station, and Coach Mike Viselli held up the 60-kg bench press. While the players competed for fastest time and strongest arms, Jason and Coach Mike were examining each player's endurance, tenacity, and, most importantly, willpower.
Following these contests of strength and speed, players ran drills similar to the NFL Combine. Players ran through drills such as the 3-cone drill, broad jumps, and route-running. In addition, players ran zone drills, hurdles, and much more. To finish off the day, everyone played ultimate football, the football-variant version of ultimate frisbee.
Notes for the Day
This was a crucial day for the Rebels and Warriors. Both the Rebels and Warriors lost several players this coming year either to advancement or to retirement. The majority of the people that came to the combine were new players. This combine gave newcomers an understanding of the game of football, enabling them to test their mettle against the gridiron.
Everyone had an amazing time today. Although this combine's main goal was to acquire new recruits, people were able to get a great workout, and, more importantly, have an opportunity to join the incredible Judean Family.
